PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) – Taking time out of his Youth Baseball Pro Camp, Pirates third baseman Josh Harrison talked with Joe Starkey about what it’s like working with kids, how he got his start at a young age and who he thinks are some worthy All-Star candidates on this year’s team.
Starting with the All-Star candidates, Harrison has a long list of guys he thinks are worthy.
“I don’t know where to start, but I know for sure you got to go Gerrit Cole, A.J. Burnett, (Tony) Watson, (Mark) Melancon, Cutch, (Starling) Marte, (Francisco) Cervelli for sure. The list is endless. It just shows how deep our team is and why we have the success we do,” he said.
Speaking of Melancon, after a shaky start to the season in which his velocity dropped, there were many questions about the Pirates closer.
Harrison addressed that and said the team is confident when they hand him the ball in the ninth inning.
“He’s been doing a really good job,” Harrison said. “We tip our hat off to him, and not only him, guys ahead of him, (Arquimedes) Caminero, Watson, (Rob) Scahill. Every guy in the bullpen has come in and done exactly what we’ve needed them to behind great starting pitching.”
